If you’re trying to create a budget for your bedroom spending, we’d suggest splurging on the mattress and saving on the frame. Cheap bed frames don't make the setup more or less comfortable. After all, they’re really just there to provide a beautiful home for the mattress (which, unlike the frame, does affect your comfort level). So if you are looking to pinch a few pennies, avoid spending more than you’re willing on a bed frame. In fact, there's no need to go over $300 for a piece of furniture that won't impact anything other than your space's aesthetic.

Ahead, we found 15 cheap bed frames that are shockingly luxurious looking. Some, in fact, boast special features, like hidden drawers and extra support. Otherwise, go with a classic option that never goes out of style. Regardless of which bed frame you snag, you’ll feel relieved to save big time on it. Plus, wallet-friendly prices aside, these beds are pretty stylish and work in just about any space—no matter how small.

In fact, we chose only the chicest options that are equal parts durable and versatile. Think solid wood minimalism, padded velvet upholstery, and everything in between. There are a lot of solid options on our carefully curated list, so go ahead and refresh your space without spending a ton of money. You’ll be amazed at how sophisticated these fabulous finds will look in your bedroom (and how affordable they were!)

Upholstered in a peach-toned beige velvet, this Everly Quinn find may skew feminine, but it's also available in black and navy, so if you're on the hunt for a more gender-neutral alternative to the classically glamorous bed frame, this may be the winner. The entire thing, minus the brass details, is padded, so you don't even need to prop up your pillows for cushioned support when you're binging your favorite shows from bed.

Personally, canopy beds that include canopies can feel a bit outdated, but that doesn't mean we don't like them. In fact, we prefer them sans canopy. There's something cool and minimalist about a tall, stately canopy bed's frame, and this $150 option is proof. It may look like it requires soaring ceilings, but it's only a touch over six feet tall, so feel free to stick it in any standard size bedroom.

Can you believe this classic metal platform bed is under $100? Neither can we, which is why we don't think the shockingly low price will stay as it is for very long. It's available in three colors and six sizes, including a twin XL and a California king. Here's why we love this type of bed: It is so versatile. Depending on the rest of bedroom decor, it can go farmhouse, industrial, or traditional.

If you're examining this intricate midcentury bed frame and thinking it looks like a nightmare to assemble, rest assured that the spindle back headboard ships ready to go. It's low-profile and made of solid pine, so once it's assembled, this bed will last. We'd suggest embracing the midcentury feel and going for neutral bedding with a super-soft texture.

This textured platform bed looks like something we'd find in a Parisian apartment overlooking the Seine. With its black-painted steel frame and linen-upholstered headboard and footboard, this is a stylish bed that capitalizes on a strong color contrast. What's more, both the headboard and footboard are padded, so this bed is a bit more plush than it may look. It's also 60% off!

This wingback bed is available in five colors, but we're most into the rust-toned one because it's eye-catching in all the right ways. In the photo shown, it looks a bit too bold because it's so bright against a mostly white space, but picture it with a bit more color in the room. You can't go wrong with a colorful bed—especially if the rest of your bedroom (or at least your bedding) has a little spice.

Snag this super simple wood platform bed with or without a headboard. Personally, we will always suggest buying a bed with a headboard because beds tend to look a bit naked without one. This bed, even with a headboard, probably wont be the star of a space because its aesthetic skews quiet rather than bold, but that's kind of what we love about it. It lets the bedding do most of the talking.

This linen-covered bed comes in both light (pictured) and dark gray, but we're feeling the former—especially if you're working with a small bedroom. Lighter colors tend to make a space feel a bit bigger, so if you want to maximize the look of your sleeping quarters, go with the lighter hue. Back to the actual bed, though: It features slats that are secured with equidistant velcro and what's called a silent bar, which can prevent frictional creaks between wooden slats and metal frames. No creaks here!

Like the previous bed, this one comes in a lighter (pictured) and darker finish. We will admit, it's not the easiest to put together, as it requires two glove-donning people and a power tool, but once it's assembled, it's good to go for at least a few years. There's no need for a box spring, so feel free to snag whichever mattress best suits your needs—memory foam, latex, or springs, to name a few.

Choosing a bedroom scheme is a very personal decision that should be influenced by what makes you feel serene and calm. The easiest way to accomplish this kind of look is to pick pieces that are soft both on the eyes and to the touch. This bed, for instance, is upholstered in a velvety fabric and padded everywhere but the legs.

This metal bed frame is dubbed the Victorian because its shape is inspired by the English era named after the namesake monarch. In fact, this Amazon find is pretty accurate: It features a dark finish, ornate embellishments, and relatively heavy proportions, all characteristics of mid-19th century England. Unlike beds from the period, however, this one features an entire foot of space underneath for storage.

This cheap bed frame kind of disappears, which is one of the reasons we love it. The main reason it's on the list, however, is because it's really easy to assemble and take apart. In fact, it consists of only two pieces. So if you're not in the market for a complicated piece of furniture, this is your best bet.

Cheap bed frames can be hit or miss, so before you buy one, make sure it will work for you and your space. A few things worth considering? Price, assembly, and material.

Price: This is more of a personal preference, so spend as much as you feel comfortable spending. That said, bed frames are more aesthetically-charged than they are functional, so there's no need to spend too much. If you're looking to save, we wouldn't recommend buying a bed frame for more than $300.

Assembly: Most cheap bed frames don't come with white glove delivery, so if you don't consider yourself too handy, you may want to get a frame that's easy to put together. If it requires power tools to assemble, either call in the big guns (read: the professionals) or consider something a little easier.

Material: Material may not seem very important, but it is one of the most crucial considerations when buying a cheap bed frame. Look for metal and real wood because those are the most durable materials and will hold up better than pretty much anything else.

Some bed frames are more functional than others, so factor in the "extras," if you will when setting your budget. Otherwise, if it's just a standard bed frame that doesn't do anything (offer storage or extra support), you may want to put away the big bucks and spend around $300 or less.

The House Beautiful shopping editors are all about affordability that doesn't come at a cost to the style, so when we set out to find a few cheap bed frames, we considered everything from the material to the assembly process. Our goal? Finding affordable pieces that look expensive. Mission accomplished.
